Prime Operator Pursues Art Career While On The Road

Veronica Escudero, a co-driver in Prime's Refrigerated Division with her husband Jose Velazquez, is also a successful painter from Glendale, Arizona. She received her Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State University in 1984 and has exhibited her works at many prestigious shows in New York, California, Florida, New Mexico, and Texas among other states. Many of Escudero's works have initiated from over-the-road driving. "I definitely get inspired while I'm driving," said Escudero. "I actually became a driver to get 'visual food' for my art. The inspiration I get while driving is subconscious," she added. "I gather color combinations and ideas to feed off of when I start painting my abstracts."

Escudero is primarily concentrating on mural painting at this point and has recently hosted shows in several cities across the country. "Prime has been great about working with me and my husband," said Escudero. "I can go out for a month at a time to see my husband and gather ideas on the road, but then return home to concentrate on my art. I really appreciate how much Prime has worked with us."

Escudero and Velazquez joined Prime in 1995 and recently earned a $21,197 bonus for the completion of their first three-year lease in Prime's Refrigerated Division. They have also achieved the two-year level Prime Time Certified Award for on-time performance earning them each a gold ring with two diamonds.
